Quality Control

Commitment to Excellence:

Bliss Ayurveda, in its quality policy, has pledged purity, quality, and adherence to the traditional texts, which means you can be confident that you are getting the very best in herbal formulations—a true fusion of the ancient and modern. Bliss Ayurveda’s mission is to combine the precious ancient knowledge of Ayurveda (Vedic medicine with a 5,000 year history) with modern scientific research and standards to improve the quality of life.

Bliss Ayurveda products use herbs that are either ecologically grown or procured from natural habitat. These herbs are harvested at the optimum time, when their essential oils and flavor are at their peak. These herbs are then sorted, cleaned and dried.

Bliss Ayurveda has a team of Ayurvedic vaidyas and herbal experts that monitor quality control at every step of production, from procurement of herbs and other ingredients to the final dispatch of the product. Bliss Ayurveda formulations are all natural and contain no artificial colors or flavors of any kind. Natural binders collected from the wild, such as gum acacia, are used in some formulas. We firmly believe that Bliss Ayurveda is well ahead of the industry standards in all of these areas, and the intent is to stay ahead.

General Examination:

There is a physical examination of all herbs, using senses of sight, smell, and touch, by the Ayurvedic herb identification experts and vaidyas. Then, they are all examined using HPLC (high performance liquid chromatography) to chemically identify them and ensure the potency. Finally, the dried herbs are subjected to tests in accordance with the Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India to reveal the solids, active ingredients, and ash contents present to see whether they are within the recommended reference range.

Standardized herbal extracts are used to maintain the consistency and therapeutic efficacy of the herbs. After drying, the herbs are analyzed for microbiological examination, pesticide content, and heavy metals. Only if each batch of herbs meets Bliss Ayurveda’s stringent standards of high quality, are they released for further use.

Heavy Metal Analysis:

If you are taking Bliss Ayurveda’s herbal products, there is literally no need to worry about heavy metal contamination. Bliss Ayurveda follows very strict standards to monitor the ingredients, the herbs as they are processed, and the finished products. First, each batch of herbs is tested. Then, each batch of finished product undergoes a battery of tests in state-of-the-art government approved testing laboratories. Bliss Ayurveda’s products are tested for heavy metals, such as lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury. These tests are done by using ICP-MS (inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry), one of the most advanced and accurate instruments, with minimum or no interference of two metals. It can detect even the minutest traces of heavy metals, up to the level of parts per trillion (PPT). A microwave assisted digestion system is encouraged for the preparation of samples before testing with ICP-MS, to further decrease the chances of contamination. In order to keep Bliss Ayurveda products considerably ahead of market standards, very stringent heavy metal limits are followed. They are far less than the allowed limits of the U.S. FDA and European Union.

Bliss Ayurveda's limits in milligrams per daily dose are as follows:

Lead content shall not exceed 0.004 mg/d
Mercury content shall not exceed 0.002 mg/d
Cadmium content shall not exceed 0.0006 mg/d
Arsenic content shall not exceed 0.002 mg/d

Every Batch is then rechecked by another independent laboratory in order to be 200% sure about the results.

Microbiological Analysis:

Every batch of herbs is subjected to microbiological testing. Bliss Ayurveda checks all semi-finished products for microbial contamination. The testing is performed in Bliss Ayurveda’s own well-equipped, certified laboratory. Test methods are in accordance with the IP (Indian Pharmacopoeia) and BP (British Pharmacopoeia). The microbiological standards provided by European Pharmacopoeia are adhered to. The semi-finished products are tested for the following:

Total Viable Count CFU/gm 1 x 107(Max.)
Coliform 37oC CFU/gm 1 x 103(Max.)
Coliform 44oC CFU/gm 1 x 102(Max.)
Enterococcus  CFU/gm 1 x 104(Max.)
Staphylococcus aureus CFU/gm 1 x 102(Max.)
Bacillus CFU/gm 1 x 103(Max.)
Clostridium perfringens CFU/gm 1 x 102(Max.)
Moulds CFU/gm 1 x 103(Max.)
Yeast CFU/gm 1 x 103(Max.)
Salmonella   Absent/NAD

Residual Pesticides Analysis:

Bliss Ayurveda only uses herbs which are either grown organically or in a natural habitat. Bliss Ayurveda even encourages farmers to do medicinal value organic farming in a traditional way to meet increasing demands and assure organic plants. All herbs are tested for residual pesticides, such as alpha and beta HCN, gamma HCN, DDT, and Lindan, etc. This analysis is done by using GC-MS (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry), one of the most sophisticated and advanced instruments to detect residual pesticides.

Quality Certifications:

Bliss Ayurveda products are manufactured in a facility that is equipped with prominent and important certificates for quality:
